Long-time Montreal broadcaster Kathy Coulombe has died.
Coulombe worked as a host, newscaster, anchor and broadcaster in this city for more than 30 years, at CJAD, CHOM, CJFM and RCI.
Former CHOM announcer Richard Berle worked alongside Kathy and remained a personal friend.
"Your ears perked up and you paid attention to what she was saying" Berle tells CJAD.
"Other than her talents as a newscaster, this was a truly special lady, a kindered spirit."
"She loved animals. She did a lot of stories on radio about animals. Those were the type of stories that really interested her, and she felt would interest her listeners as well."
CJAD senior reporter Claude Beaulieu says his most enduring memories of Kathy were as not as a colleague as so much as a listener.
"I used to tell her that I would listen to her on CHOM, when I was in high school, or it may have been CEGEP."
"I do recall that she wasn't particularly amused when I told her that I listened to her as a young man." added Beaulieu.
"She had such a long, long service in the business, and that's one of the things that really always strikes me the most about people who stay in the business this long. It's quite impressive." said Beaulieu.
Kathy Coulombe died of lymphoma cancer. She was 56.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
